From July 25th to 31st, OIKOS Mediterranean has organized in Taranto the first summer school on integral ecology of the Mediterranean.
30 young people from Italy, Egypt, Lebanon, France, Spain, Bosnia, and other countries have been selected, with the participation of professors from various Mediterranean universities (Nice, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, Rome, Loppiano, Al-Azhar…).
We will address the following topics:
- 1. Mediterranean, between land and sea. Southern thought in times of complexity.
- 2. The integral city. Civic life, relational spaces.
- 3. The integral economy. Work, business, finance.
- 4. The challenges of the Mediterranean. A place of social and environmental hope.
In addition to the exchange with university professors, there will be two workshops:
– SEA: coordinated by the French NGO GAIA FIRST, to activate projects related to the sea.
– LAND: coordinated by an entity – company, to activate projects related to companies for a new economy.
There will also be the possibility of enjoying boat excursions and other immersive activities in the city and its surroundings.
The summer school is not just a formative moment, but aims to be a constitutive moment to initiate new processes in the Mediterranean with young people, to imagine a new governance.
